Of the few negative points this scope has, is that the image can be blurry at higher magnifications and lose some of the crystal clarity of the lower magnifications. The image can also be fuzzy around the edges and if you prefer the field of view to be crisp all around this could be an issue.

Comparison

This Nikon BuckMaster II 4-12 x 40 BDC riflescope is one of the best scopes in its price class. It has clear optics, is easy to mount and set up and has the quality expected of a brand like Nikon.

The scope transmits light very well in dim and low light conditions much better than other cheaper scopes with similar specifications. It is lighter than other scopes of this size, but durable and reliable.

It has a smooth zoom dial and holds its zero. It is happy at ranges of up to 600 yards and the BDC is effective to help you keep your shots accurate.

It won’t need tools to adjust, so you can focus on aiming, and not on where to carry additional tools with you when you are out.  It is a fast scope and you won’t need to tinker with it carefully each time you change distance.

All in all, this scope is a leader in its price class and real quality for its price. It holds up against similar scopes with much higher price tags.

This Nikon Buckmaster II 4-12 x 40 BDC scope is a clear, crisp optic suitable for serious hunters with a sensible budget. The scope offer very clear views and can be used for a wide range of distances.

This will be a good choice for your sporting rifle.  The scope has a good balance between clarity, accuracy, precision and price without leaning too much to one or the other.

It will serve you well at dawn or dusk while you are tracking a squirrel or a large deer. This is a good budget scope at the higher end of the price range, but has the credentials of a much more expensive scope.
